President of Platinum Legacy

About Nicholas Kahrilas

Based in Los Angeles, California, Nicholas Kahrilas is the President of Platinum Legacy, a versatile direct portfolio lender specializing in short term bridge loans. He possesses decades of finance and real estate experience and has successfully advised or funded more than 1.5 billion of transactions throughout his career.

Before founding Platinum Legacy, Nicholas was the owner of Painters Warehouse Stores, a chain of paint stores that was the predominant supplier to the entertainment industry. He later sold the business to Pittsburgh Paint Company, a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest paint suppliers in the world. Shortly after, he noticed an arbitrage for life insurance policies in the secondary market. Following his discovery, Nicholas Kahrilas founded a finance company and went on to raise tens of millions of dollars on Wall Street to finance policies before banks considered this an acceptable asset class to lend on. Along with Warren Buffet, he was one of the first to help create a secondary market for life insurance policies.

Over the course of five years, Nicholas grew his firm into an incredibly successful entity, writing billions of dollars of life insurance and assisting his clients with financing options.  All the while, he was developing his network of connections and becoming an integral part of the Los Angeles community. Nicholas began working with some of his connections on real estate deals, helping them broker some massive transactions through hard money loans. One such transaction was the 40 million dollar hard money loan on the Beverly House, a fixture in Los Angeles culture with a rich history in both politics and entertainment. The deal made history at the time as the largest first trust deed loan on a residential property in the United States

Realizing his connections in the real estate industry ran deep, along with his experience and knowledge of finance, Nicholas Kahrilas came to the realization that his network was strong enough to enter into the industry himself. Rather than being a broker, he wanted to be able to control his own deals and soon founded Platinum Legacy. Now, he is working toward carving a space for the company within a traditional industry—a space that values transparency and flexibility. His company is composed of entrepreneurs with decades of combined experience, allowing for streamlined service from origination to funding, as well as competitive financing options that ensure their clients receive the best deal possible in the market.

Nicholas Kahrilas is a graduate of UCLA and possesses a year of accreditation towards an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is the Former President of the Beverly Hills Chapter of YPO and an active community leader and a previous President of Charitable Ways.  Nicholas enjoys spending quality time with his children and staying active by playing paddle tennis
